Tampa Family Martial Arts

A club of traditional Okinawan Goju Ryu practitioners in Tampa, Florida

About Us

Our Instructors

Sensei Bob Bolton, Sandan, founded Tampa Family Martial Arts in February 2004. As an affiliate Dojo of the I.O.G.K.F, we adhere to the Hoshin of the organization, "To protect the tradition of Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate do as an intangible cultural treasure while promoting the art." Our dojo is not a "for profit" enterprise but rather a club of Goju Ryu practitioners who want to train hard and pass along the knowledge and tradition of the founder of Goju Ryu, Chojun Miyagi.

Sensei Michael Han is our Chief  Instructor. His rank is Rokudan, or 6th degree black belt. He oversees all instructror training for TFMA. He has trained for over 41 years in Goju Ryu and Shotokan, and teaches advanced instructors training for IOGKF-USA Southeast instructors. He trained in UK for 22 years and fortunately for us, came back to the US. He teaches our adult classes when his schedule permits. Sensei Han is one of the highest ranking IOGKF members in the United States today and brings a vast amount of knowlege and experience to this Dojo
. He is the Southeast Senior Instructor for the IOGKF-USA.
